Blanket party

The term Code Red is the unofficial name of the armed forces of the United States for the punishment of a soldier by his own comrades.

In the armed forces of the United States, it was common until the 1990s, to be punish soldiers by their comrades if they did not behave as required during basic training. This punishment instead of a disciplinary procedure was partly arranged by instructors and officers. Today, the Code Red at all U.S. armed services is prohibited.

In the Marines, the term blanket party (ceiling - party ), since it was a common punishment, beating soldiers with towels, in which hard objects were wrapped. Previously, a blanket was placed over the victim and held taut so that it could not free. In the movie Full Metal Jacket such an act is shown. The term Code Red was known especially by the movie A Few Good Men, but he was never used in the U.S. Marines.
