Blaque

Blaque Ivory (in the U.S. only Blaque ) is an American hip hop trio. It was founded in Atlanta (Georgia ) in 1998. Members are Shamari Fears, Brandi Williams and Natina Reed ( 1979-2012 ). The band's name is an acronym for " Believe", "Life", "Achieving ", " quest", "Unity" and "Everything".

History

Fears and Reed already spent their youth together. First musical steps they took in the band Butz, but without much success. After the dissolution of the band, both initially went their separate ways.

As Reed Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes, singer of the R & B band TLC met, the idea of ​​a common production was made. Reed invited for a her friend Fears and singer Brandi Williams. Through the mediation of Lopes, the trio received a recording contract with Sony Music.

In the spring of 1999, produced by R. Kelly 's debut single was released 808 and immediately reached the top ten of the U.S. Billboard charts. The single was followed by the debut album Blaque, and the second single taken from it, a duet with boy band N'Sync, surpassed in the U.S. even the success of its predecessor.

Meanwhile, two more albums Blaque Out ( 2002) and Torch (2003) have appeared.

From the album Torch the song I'm Good was selected for the soundtrack of hip -hop dance film Honey. In the wake of the success of this film, the single reached the charts in early 2004 in Germany.
