Blasius Ammon

Blasius Amon (* 1558 in Hall (Tyrol ); † beginning in June 1590 in Vienna ) was an Austrian singer, composer and Franciscans.

1568 came Blasius Amon as a choirboy at the court chapel of Archduke Ferdinand II in Innsbruck. He was among the Kapellmeisters William Bruneau ( active 1564-1584 ) and Alexander Utendal ( active 1564-1581 ) a thorough musical education, which he completed on study trips. Above all, his stay in Venice from 1574 to 1577 has left it in his creative footsteps. He brought with him not only the usual there modulations, but also the Venetian Doppelchörigkeit to his homeland.

In 1582 he published his first musical work " Liber sacratissimarum cantionum selectissimus " in Vienna. 1590 published in Munich " Sacrae Cantiones ".

Blasius Amon was demonstrated for different pins ( Zwettl, Lilienfeld, Holy Cross and Neustift near Brixen ) operates. He created mostly sacred vocal works, including polyphonic motets and masses.

In the spring of 1587 he entered the Franciscan Order in Vienna and received before his untimely death, nor the priesthood.
