Blaye-les-Mines

Blaye -les -Mines is a commune in the Tarn department (81 ) in the Midi-Pyrénées region. It belongs to Arrondissement Albi and the Canton Carmaux -Sud. She is a member of the Communauté d' agglomération de l' Albi. Blaye -les -Mines has 3049 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011).

Geography

The municipality is located four kilometers southwest of Carmaux and 11 kilometers northwest of Albi. Blaye -les -Mines is located in the north of the department of Tarn.

History

The region around Carmaux owes its present form of coal that lies beneath it. By a document that dates from around 1295, is to start from a start of production in the 13th century. The document confirms the levy tolls on the bridge of Albi for transporting coal.
