Bleheratherina pierucciae
Bleheratherina pierucciae is a small freshwater fish from the family of Old World silversides ( Atherinidae ) the endemic to New Caledonia in the rivers pirogues and Tontouta. With the generic name of the German ichthyologist Heiko Bleher is honored.
Features
Bleheratherina pierucciae is very slender, almost transparent and is a maximum of 4.7 cm long. It has 40 to 41 vertebrae. Eye and mouth are relatively large. The end of the premaxilla extends to the anterior border of the orbit.

The caudal fin has nine dorsal and ventral eight main fin rays.

Bleheratherina pierucciae is because it can be assigned on account of its osteological features, especially of the mouth, no other Indo-Pacific silverside genus and subfamily, systematically isolated and its own subfamily ( Bleheratherininae ) assigned.
