Blémerey, Vosges

Blémerey is a commune in the Vosges department of the Lorraine region. It belongs to the district Neufchâteau, the Canton of Mirecourt and was founded in 1998 Kommunalverband Xaintois.

With 18 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) is the third smallest Blémerey the 515 municipalities of the department of Vosges.

Geography

The municipality is located in Blémerey Xaintois, about 40 kilometers north- west of Epinal and 40 kilometers south of Nancy, on the border with the department of Meurthe -et -Moselle.

By Blémerey the Ruisseau le Breuil, which drains to the Mosel Creek Madon flows. The proportion of forest in the area of ​​the municipality is about 10%. Just a few kilometers north of Blémerey the striking Colline de Sion rises with the tower signal de Vaudémont to 541 meters above the sea.

Neighboring communities of Blémerey are Fraisnes -en- Saintois in the northeast, Frenelle -la -Petite in the southeast, Oëlleville in the southwest, chief skin in the west and Courcelles in the northwest.

History

In a document Blémerey was first mentioned in 1403 or 1413. The village was part of the Bailiwick of Mirecourt. The Chapel of Saint- Hubert in Blémerey belonged to the parish of the neighboring village of Courcelles in the Deanery of the Diocese of Toul Saintois.

The church of Saint -Hubert ( St. Hubert ) was built in 1561. The school from 1881 no longer exists.

In a later -built school building today the office of the Mayor ( Mairie ) is housed. At the former feature today remembers the facade with the words Ecole Communale.
