Blevio is a municipality with 1194 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the Italian province of Como in the Lombardy region.
The municipality extends over a height of 200-1140 meters above sea level.
Blevio is a city which embodies seven old villages. The so-called " the seventh cities " ( Capovico, Cazzanore, Girolamo, Maggianico, Mezzovico, Sopravilla and Sorto ). The most important of these were in the vicinity of the lake of Como.
The etymology of the name of the city was found in the Celtic language: Blevio → " Biuelius " ( Latin for " vivo - alive "; old Irish " biu - I use to be ").
