Blind Illusion

Blind Illusion is a thrash metal band from San Francisco, California, founded in 1979, broke up in 1989 and got together again in 2008.

History

The band was founded in 1979 by high school student Marc Biederman ( vocals, electric guitar). A short time later met bassist and drummer Bret Hern Alvin Petty joined the band. Bassist Petty was a short time but later replaced by Les Claypool. Beginning of the 1980s pushed singer David White ( now at Heathen ) joined the band. In 1983, the line-up changes again: Guitarist Pat Woods, bassist Gene Gilson and drummer Mike Miner came to Bamd. There were a few local gigs in the San Francisco Bay Area. In addition, they recorded some demos, making them their fame increased greatly in combination with many performances.

Mid -1980s, David White left the band to play at Heathen. Pat Woods took over briefly his post, and then also to leave the band a short time later. Mark Biedermann took over the post of the singer. In addition, bassist Les Claypool returned to the band to replace Gene Gilson. Following which, they released a demo, which was produced by Kirk Hammett. Then John Marshall joined as a second guitarist for the band. After his retirement in 1987, he was replaced by Larry " Ler " Lalonde ( Possessed ), so the cast was initially complete again.

In the summer of 1987, after a few demos and local gigs, the band reached a deal with Combat Records. With this label they released in 1988 their debut album The San Asylum. The release was followed by a tour before the band broke up in 1989. Claypool and LaLonde dedicated to the band Primus. Marc Biedermann began in the same year with the work on a second album, which was to be called The Medicine Show. However, it was never published because not satisfy him the result of the recording.

In 2008, the band reunited. Marc Biedermann was once a singer and guitarist, Robert Nystrom played the drums and the bass Danny Harcourt.

The album Demon Master was published in 2010.

Style

Above all, the game of guitars has a special value in the band, since it is technically demanding and the main focus is on this. Even the game of the bass is important, which partly complicated rhythms are applied by Les Claypool. This form of Thrash Metal is often described as " Progressive Thrash Metal". The songs are also bonds to listen from the psychedelic rock and funk.
