Blind Simmie Dooley

Simeon Dooley ( born July 3, 1881 in Hartwell, Georgia, † January 17, 1961 in Spartanburg, South Carolina ), known as Blind Simmie Dooley, was an American blues singer and guitarist. Blind Gary Davis described him next to Blind Blake and Blind Willie Davis as one of the greatest country blues guitarists.

Dooley brought Pink Anderson to play the guitar and performed with him. The two played in the street and at parties, when Anderson was not traveling with Dr. Kerr 's Medicine Show.

In 1928 Dooley and Anderson in Atlanta for four pieces on Columbia Records; two were in the same year, the other published in the following year. The records sold well.

Anderson was invited to make further recordings, Dooley not; However, Anderson refused to accept without Dooley.
