Blindism

The English name Blindism ( German as " Blindismus " ) is used in rare cases of stereotyped behavioral / stereotyped movements that occur with blind and visually impaired people. These behaviors / mannerisms affect the weighing of the head ( Jactatio capitis ), rockers of the upper body ( Jactatio corporis ) and the " drilling" with his hands in his eyes.

These and similar behavioral and stereotyped movements may also occur in autism and mental retardation. There are uniform movements that are repeated and largely done independently of external influences. They represent a problematic aspect in the development of blind children represents an appropriate learning environment and experience is impaired and the behavior are often interpreted as a sign of mental disability, possibly leading to stigmatization.
