Blonde Redhead

Blonde Redhead is an American dream pop band from New York.

History

The band was founded in 1993 in New York by the art students Kazu Makino (vocals / guitar) and Maki Takahashi ( bass) from Kyoto and Italian twin brothers Simone (drums) and Amedeo Pace (vocals / guitar). Named they have their band after a song of the no wave band DNA by Arto Lindsay. Their first album, Blonde Redhead was produced by Sonic Youth drummer Steve Shelley and output on Smells like records, shortly after the publication Takahashi left the band. For the recording of the album Fake Can Be Just As Good Vern Rumsey of Unwound in 1997 played the bass one, the album Melody Of Certain Damaged Lemons in 2000 was reinstated as a trio.

After a hiatus of several years, due to a riding accident Makino published, Blonde Redhead in the year 2004 was the most commercially successful album Misery Is a Butterfly with the independent label 4AD. When 4AD released in the subsequent period, the 23 albums (2007) and Penny Sparkle (2010).
