Blood of Jesus Christ (military order)

The Order of the Redeemer, with full name Order of the Redeemer of the Precious Blood of Jesus Christ in the Duchy of Mantua, was an Italian Knights. The Foundation was Pentecost in 1608 by Duke Vincent of Gonzaga in the Church of St. Andrew in Mantua. Here the drops of blood of the Saviour, according to legend, said to have been kept in a box. Each year, the Ordenstag was celebrated in this church. The number of knights was set at twenty, where 14 were present at the foundation. To 1708, after the death of Duke Charles IV, the Order, together with the Duchy came to the house of Austria.

Order decoration

The religious character was a golden oval medallion, with two angels standing against each other. The angel holding a golden monstrance. In the center of the monstrance monstrance in the three gems symbolize the three drops of blood. A religious exchange with the following inscription: " Nihil hoc triste recepto " surrounded this decoration. Another was on a breastplate of chain of orders: "Domination probasti me".

Chain of orders and carrying method

The Order of Knights of the characters wore a large golden medal chain hanging around his neck on the chest. The chain was alternately composed of golden, oval white enamel tags and associated with small golden limbs. On a breastplate was a golden monstrance with the middle three red dots, another showed the second currency in black.
