Bloomfield (Virginia)

Bloomfield is an unincorporated community in Loudoun County in the U.S. state of Virginia. It is located at the intersection of Airmont Road (Virginia State Route 719 ) to the Bloomfield Road (Virginia State Route 626).

The county town of Leesburg is 30 km from the capital, Washington, DC is located approximately 100 km east of Bloomfield.

History

Bloomfield was established by the Virginia General Assembly on January 13, 1816. The village was on the wild flower fields along the Blue Ridge Mountains, which run near Bloomfield, named. A year later, Bloomfield received a post office. By 1830, the village flourished with 59 inhabitants. During the Civil War visited Colonel John Mosby and his soldiers Bloomfield to 173,000 U.S. dollars divide, which they had stolen from a Gold Train the Union in West Virginia.
