Bloomington is a city in Hennepin County in the U.S. state of Minnesota. It is located south of Minneapolis and Saint Paul and is the most populous suburb of the Twin Cities and fifth largest city in Minnesota. In 2010, 82 893 people were living in Bloomington.
Geography
Bloomington is centrally located in the east of Minnesota in the metropolitan area of Minneapolis -Saint Paul- Bloomington. In the south and east of the city is bordered by the Minnesota River. According to the United States Census Bureau, the area of Bloomington is 99.4 square miles, of which 7.5 square miles of water.
Demographic data
According to the census in 2010 lived in Bloomington 82 893 people in 35 905 households. The population density was 904 people per square kilometer. In the 35 905 households lived statistically 2.28 per person.

Tourism
Bloomington is known primarily through the Mall of America, the second largest shopping center in the main shopping (over 500 ) in the United States. Opened in 2006, the Mall of the Water Park of America. This claims to be the largest indoor water park in the United States.
The city maintains a partnership with Izumi, Osaka, Japan.
Traffic
Important routes of road transport are the Interstate 35 -W, which crosses the city in a north-south direction and provides a direct connection to the Twin Cities, as well as Interstate 494, which runs north in west-east direction and a feeder for Interstate 94.
Immediately north-east of the city lies with the Minneapolis -Saint Paul is an international commercial airport. The Hiawatha Line light rail line begins at the Mall of America and Bloomington connects with the airport and the city of Minneapolis.
