Blount County (Tennessee)

Blount County is a county located in the state of Tennessee in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Marysville.

Geography

The County is located in Eastern Tennessee, bordering North Carolina and has an area of ​​1468 square kilometers, of which 21 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Knox County, Sevier County, Swain County ( North Carolina), Monroe County and Loudon County.

History

Blount County was formed on July 11, 1795 from parts of Knox County. It was named after William Blount, a U.S. Senator from Tennessee and a member of the Constituent Assembly ( Constitunional Convention ) of North Carolina and signer of the Constitution of the United States.
