Blue anole

Dactyloa gorgonae

Dactyloa gorgonae is a lizard species from the group of iguana -like. The species is endemic to the Colombian island of Gorgona.

Description

The animals are bright blue dorsally, paler ventrally. They reach a height of 51 mm, the tail and the other 16 mm measuring head not included. The width of the head is about 9 millimeters. The throat pouch is whitish and has at the base purple stripes and dots. The dorsal scales are much smaller than ventral; but overall relatively small. The tail scales are strongly keeled and comparatively large. The round ear hole is medium in size.

Both pairs of legs are on the top also bright blue. The underside is coated like the rest of the body paler and also with weakly drawn, wavy purple lines. The front legs measure 33 millimeters, the rear pair of legs is almost twice as long and measures 60 millimeters. In this case, make the tibia of 14 millimeters. The toes are significantly broadened and own under the second and third element of the fourth toe lamellae 16.

Similar Species

The species is similar Anolis andianus. In contrast to this continental type Dactyloa gorgonae has five Lorealschuppen series. Also, the area above the eye is not dreikielig and are located under the center of the eye six lobes. The hind leg is shorter in Anolis andianus.

Way of life

Dactyloa gorgonae inhabited trees with a minimum trunk diameter of 40 centimeters in height from one meter. Especially in the morning rise from the animals from the treetops.
