Blue Coalition

The Blue Coalition ( Bulgarian Синята коалиция ) is a political coalition in Bulgaria, which was formed for the European elections on 7 June 2009 and for the Bulgarian parliamentary elections on July 5, 2009.

The blue coalition includes parties Union of Democratic Forces ( UDF ), Democrats for a Strong Bulgaria (DSB ), Bulgarian Agrarian People's Union - People's Union ( BZNS ), Bulgarian Socialist Party ( BSDP ) and the Radical Democratic Party ( RDP). The election slogan of the coalition is: It's time! ( Bulg Време е! / Wreme e ). The coalition is considered as an attempt to unite the conservative parties. One of the principles is to establish in the candidate lists no employees of the former communist secret service ( Darschawna Sigurnost ).

History

In the European elections, the Blue Coalition won 7.99 percent of the vote and so two MEP filters ( after the ratification of the Treaty of Lisbon, until then one). The top candidate Nadezhda Nejnski and Svetoslav Malinow are thus represented the Blue coalition in the European Parliament.

After the European elections on June 12, 2009, the party joined Bulgarian New Democracy of the Blue Coalition, and on 19 June the party Schtit. Calls for inclusion in the Coalition for Bulgaria's parliamentary elections were also conducted with the Green Party, the United People's Party ( short ENP) and VMRO- BND. However, the VMRO- BND and the ENP did not agree, whereupon the talks broke down the principle of non- establishment of staff of the former communist secret. At the same time they tried the GERB party to win for a common list for the elections, but this failed.

End of June 2009 called on the party Gergjowden as well as some members of the Democratic Party on their supporters to cast their vote in the upcoming parliamentary elections for the Blue Coalition.

On January 11, 2012, the Bulgarian Parliament adopted the proposal of the Chairman of the Blue Coalition, Ivan Kostov, unanimously adopted a declaration against the assimilation policies of the former totalitarian regime against the Muslim minority. This recognized the Bulgarian state after nearly 20 years of crimes against Turks and Muslims during the communist era.
