Blue Nile Falls

Set in Ethiopia Tisissat waterfalls of the Blue Nile (also known as Tis - Issat cases ) are the second largest waterfalls in Africa.

Geography

About 30 kilometers south of Bahir Dar on Lake Tana in Ethiopia the village Tis Issat is ( Amharic, water that smokes ') on the river Abbai, which forms the headwaters of the Blue Nile. Here, the relatively water-rich of the two major sources of the Nile plunges 42 meters in depth. With a width of over 400 meters during the rainy season it is the second largest waterfall in Africa. It consists of four main flows. The Tisissat cases are considered one of the greatest tourist attractions of Ethiopia.

Since the commissioning of the second Tis Abay - power plant in 2001 and the Tana Beles - power plant in 2010 he receives in the dry season only 10 % of the previous amount of water and even in the rainy season a significantly reduced volume.
