Blue Wings

The Blue Wings AG was a German airline based in Bocholt and based on the Dusseldorf airport.

History

Blue Wings was established in February 2002 by Jörn Hellwig, Dipl. -Ing. Founded Franz -Hermann Enk, MLB Investments GmbH and Peter Meis and started flight operations in July of the following year with a single Airbus A320 -200. From Dusseldorf from different destinations in Turkey have been activated. Initially, however, saw Bluewings before a different concept; namely to conduct charter and special flights. With a stopover in Russia Western Europe should be connected to Japan. The operational hub of the Blue Wings AG was the Dusseldorf Airport, the airline also regularly from other German airports such as Karlsruhe / Baden -Baden, Münster / Osnabrück, Stuttgart, Cologne / Bonn, Munich, Dortmund, Nuremberg, Berlin, Bremen, Hannover, Leipzig / Halle, Hamburg or Frankfurt launched.

Since the founding of the airline, there was a close cooperation with the Turkish tour operator Oger Tours. A short time later, the Iranian capital Tehran was driven on behalf of the Iranian airline Mahan Air. Mostly the second Blue Wings Airbus Airbus A321- 100 was used for this route. With the acquisition of the second aircraft, the number of employees increased to about 50, the opening of two new Airbus A320 was followed by only a few time later, with machinery for their own purposes was used. The second blue-white flier was leased only a few weeks after the takeover of Mahan Air.

Also included, since March 2005, three Airbus A330- 200 to the airline to operate the routes to Dubai, Colombo and to the Indian coast, and should be in use for Mahan Air and Iran Air, but were never used after the takeover by Lufthansa. The winter timetable 2005, only one aircraft was used, two Airbus continued to be leased to Mahan Air.

From March 31 to May 4, 2009 Blue Wings had no operating license of the Luftfahrt-Bundesamt and had to cease flying at this time, as the airline was unable to demonstrate sufficient liquidity.

On January 13, 2010 Blue Wings ceased flight operations after the Federal Aviation Office has had the operating license revoked again due to " lack of evidence on the economic performance." On February 10, 2010 bankruptcy petition was filed. The reason called the airline economic problems and the strained economic situation in aviation. From the closure of around 250 employees were affected. In early March 2010 sparked Hans -Joachim Loell from the previous CEOs Jörn Hellwig.

Business

The ownership of the Blue Wings were as follows:

  • 48 percent - Alpstream AG, Zurich, a subsidiary of National Reserve Corporation by Russian entrepreneur Alexander Lebedev
  • 26 percent - NIL ( Nondwell Investment Limited ), Cyprus
  • 26 percent - Jörn Hellwig (co-founder and CEO )

Besides Oger Tours and Air Berlin, were among the other partners of the Blue Wings AG Lufthansa Technik (maintenance) and LSG Sky Chefs ( catering). Moreover, it was the Blue Wings AG member of the German Business Aviation Association, a community of interests of the work of air traffic and non-scheduled, commercial air traffic. Blue Wings was also the shirt sponsor of MFK Dinamo Moscow.

Fleet

Until the termination of the flight operation in January 2010, the fleet of the aircraft consisted of seven Bluewings with an average age of 8.4 years:
