BlueGriffon

BlueGriffon (English for Blue Cross ) is a free WYSIWYG HTML editor. It replaces Nvu, a precursor program, which was also written by Daniel Glazman, and KompoZer. It is based on Gecko, the HTML rendering engine that also uses inter alia, the browser Firefox. Also XULRunner, the runtime environment for Gecko, is employed. BlueGriffon runs on Mac OS X, Windows and Linux.

BlueGriffon generated to the W3C web standards compliant websites. One can use HTML4, XHTML 1.1, HTML5 and XHTML compliant create or edit pages. CSS 2.1 and CSS 3 support is already fully integrated by Gecko. BlueGriffon contains SVG -edit, an editor for SVG that is based on XUL and was originally written as an extension for Firefox.

Can also handle character set other than UTF8 properly BlueGriffon since version 1.4.1.

AddOns

Partially missing in the free version Additional Functions such as an advanced CSS editor (a simple CSS editing is integrated ) that are realized in BlueGriffon by extensions. Clicking on the menu opens the transfer page with payment instructions for the extensions. The basic version as well as some selected extensions are free, the project is financed, inter alia, through the sale of fee-based extensions.

Portable versions

On Windows, the program can also be run portably by the main program with the command line command " profile data" is started. Thus, all settings are stored in a folder called "data".
