Bluesrock

The concept of style blues-rock describes the combination of blues and rock music. The beginnings of the genre date back to the mid-1960s, when bands like the Rolling Stones influences from blues musicians such as Elmore James, Howlin 'Wolf and Muddy Waters introduced into their music. In the early 1970s British blues-rock became the Southern rock in the Rock and the American offshoot.

Style

Although historically a close link between rock and blues, the blues-rock did not crystallize before the late 1960s as a distinct genre out. Typical schemes were improvisations on the blues and boogie woogie with a dominant lead guitarist and a harder and reef dominierteren game compared to the traditional Chicago blues. The classic blues rock formation is the so-called power trio with electric guitar, electric bass and drums. In many cases, the guitarist is also a singer.

Examples of Blue Rock are Creams Crossroads, an adaptation of Robert Johnson's pieces Crossroad Blues and Travelling Riverside Blues and the Yardbirds version of Howlin ' Wolf's Smokestack Lightning - but also the music of ZZ Top is one of them, for example the piece La Grange. Musical and lyrical elements of the blues are transferred into a rock music tempo and expanded to include guitar solos.

British blues-rock

The original Blue Rock was of British origin. Musicians such as Alexis Korner and John Mayall formed bands, which served as the starting point for early genre pioneers such as Free, Savoy Brown and the first line-up of Fleetwood Mac. Other pillars of the British Blue Rocks were Robin Trower and Rory Gallagher, who actually came from Ireland.

The Yardbirds as the nucleus of the British-style

One of the most important representatives of Blue Rock was Eric Clapton, who had since the mid-1960s with his partaking of the Yardbirds, to the supergroup Cream and Derek and the Dominos, as well as his subsequent solo career, leading the way for the establishment of the Blue Rock as a mass-market music. Blue Rock was there, but only one of several styles that have been maintained by these bands.

Another important contribution in the late 1960s made ​​Jeff Beck, another ex- member of the Yardbirds, as he was able to celebrate successes with his hard-edged style in the UK and the USA. At the Jeff Beck Group, which he founded a young Rod Stewart on vocals and an even younger Ron Wood participated as bassist.

After the dissolution of the Yardbirds Jimmy Page formed with new musicians, the New Yardbirds, the short time became known under the name of Led Zeppelin later. Led Zeppelin's earlier albums contained several typical blues-rock pieces, such as I Can not Quit You Baby from the debut album. Later, however, they started to think the continuation of the Hard Rock, at its inception it had been involved and who later was a recipe for the Heavy Metal.

Most blues-rock bands did them with the transition to the Hard Rock equal to or dissolved. Few bands like Foghat and Humble Pie operated initially continued in the blues-rock until in the late 1970s with the advent of punk rock no audience for it was no longer present.

American blues rock

When American pioneers Johnny Winter, Paul Butterfield and Canned Heat can be cited. Other countries

Although the scene in Europe is not particularly well known, the Blue Rock in Argentina is particularly successful where he dominated the so-called Rock Nacional scene from the 1970s until today and has influenced a number of bands. The best known representatives of the Argentine Blue Rock Luis Alberto Spinetta are, Pappo, Memphis La Blusera, La Mississippi and Patricio Rey y sus Redonditos de Ricota, the latter having also hard rock elements.
