Blussangeaux

Blussangeaux is a commune in the French department Doubs in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Blussangeaux is located on 295 m, 3 km southeast of L' Isle- sur -le- Doubs and about 16 km southwest of the town of Montbéliard (air line). The village is located on the right ( northern ) bank of the Doubs, who is here a great loop to the south, across from Blussans on the northern edge of the outermost ridges of the Jura.

The area of ​​2.12 km ² municipal area comprises a portion of Doubstals. The southern and eastern boundary runs along the Doubs, which flows here in an approximately 1.5 -mile-wide flat Talniederung and is accompanied by the waterways of the Rhine- Rhone Canal. From the river, the municipality's area extends north across the flood plain to the hill of Châtelot, which extends from the north in the Doubsbogen. At 336 m this is the highest elevation of Blussangeaux is achieved.

At the hamlet of Le Blussangeaux Châtelot (300 m) at the eastern foot of the hill of the same name belongs in the Doubs Valley across from Colombier- Châtelot. Neighboring communities of Blussangeaux are Longevelle -sur -Doubs in the north, Saint- Maurice- Colombier in the east, the south and La Blussans Prétière in the West.

History

The territory of Blussangeaux was settled very early. There were discovered tombs from the Iron Age, remains of a Gallo-Roman settlement site on the hill of Châtelot and a burial ground from the Merovingian time.

On the hill above the Doubs Châtelot the castle was built in the 13th century, which formed a small rule in the following years under the suzerainty of the Lords of Neuchâtel. By purchasing the sovereignty passed to the Counts of Montbéliard in 1561. With the Treaty of Versailles in 1748 Blussangeaux came to France. Since the time of the French Revolution Blussangeaux and Le Châtelot together formed a community. Today Blussangeaux is part of the municipal association Communauté de communes des Isles du Doubs.

Attractions

Of the former castle Châtelot are ruins, including a tower from the 13th century is obtained.

Population

With 78 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Blussangeaux is one of the smallest municipalities of the department of Doubs. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1881 191 persons were still counted ), only small fluctuations were recorded since the early 1960s.

Economy and infrastructure

Blussangeaux was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) embossed village. Even today, the inhabitants live on the merits of the activity in the first sector. Outside of the primary sector, there are few jobs in the village. Some employed persons are also commuters who engage in the surrounding larger towns of their work.

The village is located off the major thoroughfares. Road connections are made with La Prétière and Longevelle -sur -Doubs on the main road N463 ( Montbéliard - L' Isle- sur -le- Doubs). The nearest links to the A36 motorway is located at a distance of about 12 km.
