Blythswood House

Blythswood House was built in neoclassical style mansion in Glasgow. It was built in 1821 to plans by the Scottish architect James Gillespie Graham family seat of Lord Blythswood. The building was on the right bank of the River Cart near the mouth of the cart in the River Clyde. The client was a member of parliament Archibald Campbell of Blythswood. He let the new property built next to the old family seat of the Blythswoods, who had been in the possession of the family since 1654. For Blythswood House belonged in the 19th century sprawling lands that today are almost completely built over the western suburbs of Glasgow. The expansion of Greater Glasgow in 1935 also the reason for the demolition of the building. At the point where the Blythswood House had stood, is now the Renfrew Golf Course.
