BMC Trading

The BMC Trading AG (short for bicycle manufacturing company) is a Swiss bicycle manufacturer. The company focuses on the divisions Road Cycling, Triathlon, MTB and Cross. The products range from racing bikes over Triathlon bikes to mountain bikes.

History

The original company was founded in 1986. The former owner was in possession of a Raleigh Cycle Company license for distribution in Switzerland. The BMC ( bicycle manufacturing company) brand is then born in 1994. Around 2000, BMC is already in Switzerland as a supplier of mountain bikes with damping solutions (VPS - virtual pivot system) known. Despite good trader based in Switzerland red numbers are written. 2001, the company is taken over by Andy Rihs, the co-owner is also the Phonak AG. With the associated sponsorship of the Phonak racing team, the realignment of the product strategy begins. This is followed by targeted investments in the areas of development, design and marketing for racing bikes. The first team bike, the team machine SLT01, is the basis of the skeleton concept. The following year, BMC engaged with the sponsorship of the Phonak Cycling Team for the first time in professional cycling. In addition, under the brand name Scor high-quality components are produced. The export activities begin from 2003 onwards: BMC sells its bikes for the first time internationally. The BMC pro machine, the first CNT ( carbon nanotubes) full carbon frame under a kilo frame weight is also honored with a variety of design awards.

With the production of the BMC Impec 2010 ( Solothurn / Switzerland ) built a fully automated production line for the production of frames at the site Grenchen. BMC expects this to a reduction of manufacturing tolerances.

Since 2006, BMC is a company BMC Group Holding, which was until March 2012 ISH International Sport Holding AG.
