BMW 3 Series

The BMW 3 Series is a mid-range model number of the manufacturer BMW, which the company achieves the highest numbers. In 1975 the first 3 Series was introduced as the technical development of the 02- series. In May 1981, the millionth 3 Series rolled off the assembly line. The 3 Series is the most successful model of BMW. Major competitors include the Audi A4, the Mercedes -Benz C-Class and the Volvo S60.

The series at a glance

  • BMW E21 ( 1975-1983 ): the successor of the 02 models that it was only as a two-door sedan.
  • BMW E30 ( 1982-1994 ): A four-door sedan, a convertible, a wagon called Touring, M3, and four-wheel drive variants are included in the program.
  • BMW E36 (1990-2000 ): The two-door sedan will be replaced by the coupe and a hatchback variant with the addition Compact is added. No all-wheel drive option.
  • BMW E46 ( 1998-2007 ): For the first time soft body various details on coupe and convertible. A facelift for Sedan and Touring followed in September 2001, and the all-wheel drive option was re-introduced. The BMW 1 Series replaced the Compact from the end of 2004.
