BMW 650 single

The BMW F 650 GS and the F 650 GS Dakar variant are different enduro motorcycle series of the German manufacturer BMW.

Model year 2000-2007 ( single cylinder )

The BMW F 650 GS was first introduced in 2000. It replaced the BMW F 650 from which was produced jointly with the Italian company Aprilia. The machine is manufactured in the BMW Motorrad plant in Berlin. As with the previous model is the single-cylinder engine from the Austrian manufacturer Rotax. He has a relatively large flywheel, which is a low engine for single cylinder engines driving permits without causing large mechanical loads occur. With the double ignition of the engine from the Year 2004, a consumption of 3.5 to 4.5 liters of regular petrol per 100 km of normal driving is possible. As the successor with single cylinder engine, the motorcycle model BMW G 650 GS is manufactured in Manaus, Brazil exclusively for the local market since 2009 based on the BMW F 650 GS. Since 2011, this model is also available in Germany.

Model year 2008-2012 ( two-cylinder )

As of 2008, the BMW F 650 GS was equipped with the Rotax two-cylinder, which was used since 2006 in a similar form in the BMW F 800 S and ST, and from 2008 also in the new Enduro BMW F 800 GS. With the latter model, there are many similarities, but the service has been throttled.
