The BMW Concept X6 ActiveHybrid is a concept vehicle of the first full hybrid BMW and can be purely electrically driven at low speed. The concept car premiered at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2007 premiere. The production version had its market launch in autumn 2009.
In addition to the V8 Twin Turbo with High Precision Injection, the two-mode active transmission is the central component of the BMW Concept X6 ActiveHybrid. Due to the two-mode technology, the interaction of electric motors and internal combustion engine can be varied. Two modes are implemented: A mode is available for the start-up with high traction and lower speeds. The second mode is optimized for higher speeds.
The vehicle expands the BMW X models, currently consisting of the BMW X1, BMW X3, X5 and the BMW X6.
