BMW N43

The BMW N43 is a gasoline engine series of automobile manufacturer BMW four-cylinder in-line configuration. The light-alloy engine has two overhead camshafts and 16 valves. It has a spray-guided gasoline direct injection, which operates at partial load in lean operation. It could be achieved in the 116i compared to the previous engine, N45 a performance increase of six percent while reducing fuel consumption by 23%. As for lean operation of low-sulfur gasoline is required, the N43 in many markets could not be offered. Therefore, the predecessor engines were N45 and N46 offered in a modified form in these markets. The N46B20 is identical to the N43B20 in many parts such as the crankshaft or the oil pan .. From 2011, the N43 was replaced by the N13.
