BMW N62
The N62 is a petrol engine with 8 cylinders in V - arrangement of the Bavarian car manufacturer BMW and successor of the BMW M62. The engine block is made Alusil, a special aluminum alloy ( AlSi17Cu4Mg ), and was produced from 2001 to 2010 in Munich. Each cylinder has 4 valves and an indirect sequential fuel injection Sequential Fuel Injection ( SFI). The valve is controlled by a Valvetronic and Double - VANOS camshaft adjustment called.
In addition, the N62 compared to the previous engine, the BMW M62 is now in full-load operating fuel quantity controlled by the lambda probes. This reduces the full-load operating fuel consumption and improves the emission values as the content of carbon monoxide (CO), hydrocarbon (HC ), nitrogen oxides (NOx ) and especially of benzene, which is carcinogenic properties clearly demonstrated.
At the International Engine of the Year Award from the N62 won in 2002 in the categories " Best New Engine ", "Above 4- liter " and "International Engine of the Year ".
