BMW US Manufacturing Company

The U.S. BMW Manufacturing Company, LLC is a subsidiary of BMW of North America, Inc. and the German parent company Bayerische Motoren Werke AG for the production of automobiles for the world market. The initiative for the construction of the plant goes to Helmut Panke back from BMW (U.S.) Holding Corporation, which had officially announced the establishment of the company on 4 June 1993 announced in the media. Production was finally taken on September 8, 1994.

Factory data

Currently employs about 8,000 workers at the plant in Greer in the U.S. state of South Carolina, which produce daily between 600 to 700 vehicles. The maximum annual capacity of the plant is thus at 255,500 units. Work is done in Greer usually five days a week in two shifts. The management of the plant is subject to the company's current President Josef Kerscher.

In the vehicle identification number, the plant uses the manufacturer's code 4US, 5IN and 5UX. At the eleventh position of the identification of the assembly plant, however, the letter L will be used.

Positioning

Became known, the plant mainly through the production of the Z3 and X5. But the current generation of the X3 and X6 roll off the assembly line here. Former models of the work place, however, the 3 Series as well as the Z4 dar. Some of vehicle parts manufactured in Greer are supplied for different mounting methods works in other countries in order to increase the production of these models and provide the individual market regions easier and cheaper with the vehicles to be able to. About seventy percent of the vehicle parts used, however, relates the work itself from the other production of the BMW Group. Also, the model versions of the internal division of the M tuning are built in Greer.
