The BMW X1 (internal designation: E84) is a compact SUV from BMW, which has been built since 2009 at the BMW plant in Leipzig. The European launch took place on 24 October 2009. Technically comes from the X1 from the 1 Series and 3 Series.

On 13 July 2012, the Federal Motor Transport Authority published a call back to the models of the BMW 1 and 3 Series and X1 SUV and Z4 sports car. On October 1, 2013 BMW has recalled about 176,000 vehicles of the models of the 1 Series, 3 Series and 5- Series, X1 and X3 SUV and Z-4 sports cars worldwide, including 6,000 vehicles in Germany.
