The BMW X3 (internal designation: F25 ) is a compact SUV of the German automaker BMW and the successor of the first X3 ( E83).
Began the launch in Germany on November 20, 2010. Produces the F25 in BMW's U.S. plant in U.S. BMW Manufacturing Company, LLC in Greer, South Carolina.

Technology
Eight-speed automatic transmission Steptronic
Upon request, an eight -speed automatic transmission transfers the power. Due to the high spread of gears the speed level and the noise level at high speeds were lowered. Despite the increase from six to eight stages of ZF 8HP automatic transmission was no need for additional components. Weight and dimensions are increased compared to the ZF 6HP - automatic only slightly. The eight-speed automatic has the additional ability to skip gears, so it can turn and has to open only one clutch if the driving situation from eighth to second gear. Suspension, steering
The chassis as a combination of a double-joint tiebar axle at the front and a five-arm rear axle is completely redesigned. Standard electromechanical power steering is fitted, optional can be directed through a variable sports steering.
Optional Dynamic Damper Control and Dynamic Drive Control
The electronically controlled dampers adapt to road surface conditions and the driver's style. The characteristic map of the damper control can be influenced by the driver via the " Dynamic Drive Control ". The first time available for a BMW X function makes it possible to select by pressing a key between " Normal", "Sport" and "Sport ". On October 1, 2013 BMW has recalled about 176,000 vehicles of the models of the 1 Series, 3 Series and 5- Series, X1 and X3 SUV and Z-4 sports cars worldwide, including 6,000 vehicles in Germany. Affected vehicles built in 2012 and 2013. This is due to problems on the camshaft four-cylinder petrol engines, which can become a possible disruption of oil supply to the vacuum pump to the failure, and thus to the loss of brake power assistance.
