Bo Ralph

Bo Ralph ( pronunciation: [ ˌ bu ː ɹal ː f], born October 4, 1945 in Gothenburg ) is a Swedish linguist, professor of Scandinavian languages ​​and a member of the Swedish Academy.

After graduating in 1969 in Philosophy and further research in phonology Ralph in 1975 received his doctorate in philosophy and eventually became a lecturer in 1977. He worked long with Sture Allén the project Lexikalisk databas ( lexical data base ) at the Department of linguistic data processing ( Språkdata ) of the Gothenburg University. 1982-1984 he was Professor at the Department of Nordic Languages ​​Stockholm University, before he went back to Gothenburg. In 1986, he issued a Swedish dictionary. He works primarily in the field of lexicography.

He was elected to the Norwegian Academy of Sciences and, in place of Torgny Segerstedt, in the Swedish Academy on chair No. 2, 1999.
