Boa Esperança Hydroelectric Power Plant

BW

The Boa Esperança Reservoir ( for " good hope " in Portuguese) is a reservoir on the Rio Parnaíba with a hydroelectric plant. The power plant produces four Francis turbines generating electricity for the Brazilian state of Piauí. Formerly called the hydroelectric plant Usina Hidrelétrica Marechal Castelo Branco; it was recently renamed.

The shut-off, a piled dam, stands in the town of Guadalupe.

The Parnaíba forms throughout the reservoir and beyond the border between the states of Piauí and Maranhão. The storage capacity of the reservoir is 5.1 billion m³. The sizes for the area are contradictory: the lake area should be 352.2, 384 or even 1800 km ².
