Bob Barker

Robert William " Bob" Barker ( born December 12, 1923 in Darrington, Washington ) is a former American television presenter who is best known for the line of several thousand episodes of the program The Price Is Right.

Life

Barker began his career in radio. In December of 1956 he moved to the moderation of the quiz show Truth or Consequences for television; this program he led for 17 years before he was replaced in 1975 by Bob Hilton. In 1972 Barker took over the moderation of the show, The Price Is Right, an originally performed by Bill Cullen mission which had taken over from ABC, CBS and their German version from 1989 hot ran under the title The price is. In 2002 he broke with this mission Johnny Carson's record for the longest working for a show host.

On the side he had a guest appearance as moderator of his show in the series How I Met Your Mother.

Barker announced in October 2006 to his retirement from television, its latest edition of The Price Is Right, he hosted in June 2007, at the age of 83 years. He was replaced by Drew Carey.

Social commitment

Barker is involved in animal rights. The moderator ended the most episodes of The Price is Right with a call, pets neutered or to be sterilized. He supported this concern beyond through the creation of a foundation.

Since December 2009, is a 52m long ship named Bob Barker of the fleet of the animal protection organization Sea Shepherd Conservation Society. Barker had the organization donated 5 million dollars.

Honors

Barker was dedicated a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He also received a total of 19 Emmy Awards, including a 1999 award for his life's work. In 1996 he received together with Adam Sandler as an MTV Movie Award in the category Best fight scene for the film Happy Gilmore.
