Bob Bignall

Robert " Bob" Bignall ( born March 14, 1922 in Wollongong, † August 11, 2013 ) was an Australian football player.

Bignall completed in a 24 -year career in New South Wales 424 inserts for the Corrimal Rangers, Woonona, North Shore and South Coast United. From 1954 to 1956, the defender played a total of 20 appearances for the Australian national football team, including eight official A- international matches. He made his debut on 28 August against New Zealand and was on September 24, 1955 with a game against South Africa for the first time the captain's armband. Also in the Olympic football tournament in 1956 in their own country Bignall led the Australian team in both games as captain. For selection teams from New South Wales, he was a total of 37 times in use.

Besides football Bignall was also active in the sports of rugby league, tennis and cricket. After retiring from active competition to Bignall turned to the training of greyhounds.
