Bob Cochran (skier)

Robert Bruce "Bob" Cochran ( born December 11, 1951 in Claremont, New Hampshire ) is a former American alpine skier. Cochran is eight times American champion.

Biography

Cochran comes from one of the most successful Skifamilien the United States. His parents had built in the early 1960s on their possessions in northern Vermont a ski resort. There she trained her four children Marilyn, Barbara, Bob and Lindy to world class skiers.

The U.S. national team belonged to Bob Cochran 1968-1974. The greatest successes came in the Ski World Cup. Between 1970 and 1974 he was also placed in the top ten 21 times. At the Olympic Winter Games Sapporo in 1972 he scored eight place in the downhill and 17th place in the giant slalom, slalom, he left. His strongest season had Cochran 1972/73 when he first as first American ever won combining the legendary Hahnenkamm race. Eight weeks later he secured in Heavenly Valley is the only World Cup victory of his career. In the overall World Cup, he finished the season ranked ninth.

1975 Cochran joined the professional Skirennserie U.S. at Pro Tour. After two years he retired from active competitive sports. He then worked as a general physician in private practice in New Hampshire.

His son Jimmy Cochran belongs since 2003 also of the U.S. Ski Team and participated in the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin.
