Bob French

Robert " Bob" French ( born 1938 in New Orleans, † November 12, 2012 ) was an American jazz and rhythm and blues drummer and broadcaster.

Life and work

Bob French had as a child lessons from Louis Barbarin. He trained in high school a Rhythm & Blues Band, in, inter alia, James Booker, type and Charles Neville ( Neville Brothers later ), Kidd Jordan and Alvin Batiste played. In the 1960s he recorded with Earl King and Fats Domino. He also worked with Dave Bartholomew, with whom he is related maternal. Bob French & Friends played regularly in the Frenchmen Street in the DBA Nightclub. From 1977 to 2011 he led The Tuxedo Jazz Band, which was initially led by Papa Celestin and 1958-1977 of Frenchs father, Albert Papa French. He also moderated in the local jazz radio station WWOZ in New Orleans. He died of complications from diabetes and dementia.
