Bob Holden

Robert Lee " Bob" Holden, Jr. ( born August 24, 1949 in Kansas City, Missouri ) is an American politician of the Democratic Party. His most important public office was the governor of Missouri.

Early years and political rise

Holden grew up on a farm. Until 1973 he studied political science at Southwest Missouri State University. He then continued his studies at Harvard University and the Fleming Fellow Leadership Institute.

Holden's political career began in 1976 as Deputy Treasurer of Missouri. From 1983 to 1989 he was a member of the House of Representatives from Missouri. 1993 to 2001, he served as Treasurer ( State Treasurer ) of the state. He was elected governor in 2001, a choice that he could just decide for themselves to Republican Jim Talent.

Governor of Missouri

Robert Holden took up his new post on January 8, 2001. During his tenure, he improved the education policy of his country. He sat down for a family-friendly policies, and strengthened health care. Among other preventive examinations were introduced. In road transport, the alcohol limit of 0.08 parts per thousand has been set. Holden was a member of numerous associations.

A re-election he failed, he lost the 2004 primary elections in his party against Claire McCaskill. However, the then governor's post went to the Republican Matt Blunt. Holden is now working as a university professor of management at the renowned Webster University. With his wife, Lori Hauser he has two children.
