Bob King (athlete)

Bob King (actually Robert Wade King, born June 20, 1906 in Los Angeles, California, † July 29, 1965 in Walnut Creek, California ) was an American high jumper and Olympic champion.

At the Olympic Games in Amsterdam in 1928, he won with 1.94 meters ahead of his compatriot Benjamin Hedges and the Frenchman Claude Ménard, which both jumped 1.91 meters. On the fifth also placed 1.91 meters Harold Osborn, the world record holder and defending champion.

1927 and 1928 he won the championship of the Amateur Athletic Union in 1927 and 1928. During these two years he also led the annual world leaderboard.

Bob King was 1.90 cm tall and weighed 79 kg in his playing days.
