Bob Lanese

Robert Martin "Bob" Lanese ( born August 2, 1941 in Cleveland ) is an American trumpeter, who has emerged both in jazz and in the light music. He spent the majority of his career in Germany.

Life and work

Lanese, son of a music teacher, learned from the age of eight trumpet. By the Bachelor (1962 ), he studied at Ohio State University, and then to work briefly as a trumpet player in the band of a nightclub in his hometown. During his military service he played in the big band of the North American Aerospace Defense Command, returning home to study at North Texas State University on; with the One O'Clock Orchestra of the university, he joined in 1970 at the Montreux Jazz Festival. In 1971 he returned to Glenn Miller Orchestra under the direction of Buddy DeFranco back to Europe. From August 1971 he was a member of the NDR Big Band in Hamburg. He also played for James Last, around 1972 to switch to it. Until 2002, he worked as lead trumpet in the band, but also played on albums by Kai Warner, Jo Ment, Max Greger, Bert Kaempfert, Peter Herbolzheimer as well as Robbie Williams, Marius Müller -Westernhagen and Lucifer's Friend. Under his own name he submitted a recording for the European label. Furthermore, he took music education tasks and directed his Downtown Big Band Hamburg, the Werder Bremen Big Band (since 1986) and the National Youth Jazz Orchestra of Thuringia ( 1995-2007 ).
