Bob Manno

Robert John "Bob" Manno ( born October 31, 1956 in Niagara Falls, Ontario ) is a former Italian- Canadian professional ice hockey player and coach. His completed 388 NHL games, most of gedrafteten Italian in NHL history.

Career

Bob Manno began in his native Niagara Falls with ice hockey games. In his youth he played for the Niagara Falls Flyers in the OJHL and for the Hamilton Red Wings and the St. Catharines Black Hawks in the Ontario Hockey Association. In the NHL Amateur Draft 1976 he was drafted by the Vancouver Canucks in the second round in 26th place. From 1976 to 1981 he was for the Vancouver Canucks of the National Hockey League active, and in the Central Hockey League for the unterklassigen Tulsa Oilers and Dallas Blackhawks. In 1981, he joined the Toronto Maple Leafs, for the season 1981/82 his personally most successful NHL season completed, as the Italo - Canadians in 72 games nine goals and 41 assists achieved and due to its good performance in the course of this season with the participate in the NHL All-Star Game had been honored. He then went to Italy for HC Merano on the ice.

After one season, he returned to the NHL and was hired by the Detroit Red Wings at. He played in the 1985/ 86 and 1986/87 again in Merano. He then played in the Italian Serie A or the HC Fassa of 1987 1989, the HC Milano from 1989 to 1992 and the HC Bozen 1992 to 1994.

After his playing career, he coached in Italy, among others, his former clubs Bolzano and Milan. As a coach, he was active for the first time in 1998 in Germany. Manno was responsible for the Frankfurt Lions in the 1998/99 season, however, already appeared on October 17, 1998 for personal reasons. He was coach of the Augsburger Panther From April 1999 to 2000, but was released early after a home defeat against the reigning champions Munich Barons on 21 October 2000.

On 29 November 2007 Manno joined the successor to the recently released Mike Nash as coach of the Straubing Tigers. At the very beginning of his commitment, the Tigers were able to celebrate a 7-1 victory over the DEG Metro Stars. First, he signed a contract for the 2007/ 08 season, in February 2008 he extended this by one year until the end of the season 2008 /09. After the season, he left the Tigers and signed with league rivals ERC Ingolstadt. He coached the Ingolstadt Panthers in the 2009/10 season, but was on leave before the end of the season in February 2010 due to the unsatisfactory situation sporting prematurely.

Internationally

For Italy Manno participated in the 1982 World Series A- and the B World Championships 1986, 1987 and 1989 to 1992 in part. In addition, he was in the squad of Italy at the 1992 Winter Olympic Games in Albertville.
