Bob Marcucci

Bob Marcucci ( born February 28, 1930 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA, † March 9, 2011 in Ontario, California ) was an American music producer and promoter.

In the 1950s and 1960s, he discovered numerous pop stars, including Frankie Avalon and Fabian, he signed her to his record label Chancellor Records. Through massive television and public presence, he managed to build his more or less talented protégés with more or less successful songs superstars.

He also produced numerous recordings, his greatest success as a producer was Frankie Avalon's hit Venus. In 1961, he wrote the soundtrack to the film Sail a Crooked Ship, 1963 for Operation Bikini, in each of which also starred his protege Avalon.

1980 The Idol Maker then was shot, a movie based on Marcuccis life and was nominated for a Golden Globe.
