Bob Moses (musician)

Robert Laurence "Bob" Moses (also Rahboat Ntumba ) ( born January 28, 1948 in Brooklyn, New York ) is an American jazz drummer.

Moses is the son of the press agent Richard Moses and his wife Greta. Due to the acquaintances of his father he played regularly as a teenager in jam sessions with Charles Mingus, but also with Max Roach. In 1965, he was with Rahsaan Roland Kirk on a European tour. With Jim Pepper and Larry Coryell, he played from 1966 to the early jazz-rock band Free Spirits. In 1968, he joined the quartet of Gary Burton. Then he played with Michael Gibbs, Pat Metheny and Jaco Pastorius; He also appeared with Billy Martin, John Medeski and Chris Wood. On his own albums, he worked regularly with singer Jeanne Lee, but also with Sheila Jordan and Abbey Lincoln.

He is currently a lecturer at the New England Conservatory of Music.
