Career

Bob Mould moved into the 1970s, according to St. Paul, Minnesota, there to visit the Macalester College. In local record store memory lane he met Grant Hart and Greg Norton, with whom he founded in 1978 Hüsker Dü. This band started as a hardcore punk band; but with time developed a sound that combined with distorted guitars and melodies as one of the main influences for the later alternative rock was. Main songwriter of the band were in equal parts Mould and Hart; However, these developed over time a deep aversion to each other, which was exacerbated by drug abuse. In January 1988, Hüsker Dü therefore disbanded; since the communication between the two was disturbed in the long term.

After the dissolution of Hüsker Dü Mould recorded two solo albums. Workbook is a largely quiet album, unlike his previous band; Black Sheets of Rain marks a return to a distorted guitar sound. In 1992 he founded with Malcolm Travis and David Barbe, the band Sugar, which was very successful in the alternative rock scene. The album Copper Blue was determined by the New Musical Express for the "Album of the Year". In 1995, Sugar dissolved.

Then Bob Mould began to release solo albums. 1996 came out a self-titled album and 1998 The Last Dog and Pony Show, each combined with tours of America and Europe, sometimes without being accompanied by a band. After moving to New York City Mould began to increasingly interested in electronic music. These electronic influences could be heard very clearly on his following albums Modulate (2002) and Long Playing Grooves (2002); the latter he recorded under the pseudonym LoudBomb, an anagram of his name.

With the DJ Richard Morel from Washington, D.C. Mould is part of the DJ team Blowoff and created under this pseudonym, inter alia, remixes for bands like Low, Rammstein and Interpol. 2004, there was a benefit concert for suffering from cancer ( and died later), bassist of the band Soul Asylum, Karl Mueller, a small reunion of Hüsker Dü. At the end of a solo appearance he stood for two songs again with Grant Hart on a stage.

In 2005, Mould released another solo album Body of Song, on the Richard Morel, David Barbe ( Sugar) and Brendan Canty ( Fugazi ) participated. Morel and Canty were also present during the subsequent tour; the first since 1998, which denied Mould with a backing band. It was also the first time played Hüsker Dü - songs in a band context. Documented this work was published in 2007 with a live DVD titled Circle of Friends. In February 2008, appeared Bob Moulds album District Line.
