Bob Ong

Bob Ong (* supposedly August 1972 in Pasay City, Philippines ), also known under the name Roberto Ong, is the pseudonym of one of the most famous contemporary Filipino writers. Website bobongpinoy.com

Ong was famous for his now no longer continuing homepage bobongpinoy.com, he had asked a teacher as a hobby alongside his work on the Internet. Bobo is Tagalog for Dumb and Pinoy is the Demonym for ( malaiischstämmige ) citizens of the Philippines; thus means " Bobong Pinoy" "Stupid Filipinos ". Ong says that even though his employer was impressed with the site, possibly his job would have lost if it had come out that he was the author. However, he later decided to maintain his pseudonym Bob Ong, one of the readers anschrieb him with that name. In 1998, the website was awarded the People's Choice Philippine Web Award, but was taken shortly after the impeachment and the subsequent revolution against the then Philippine President José Marcelo Ejército 2001, from the Internet

Guesses as to the identity

Although it is often said that the Filipino writer Charlson Ong would be behind the pseudonym Bob Ong, Bob Ong himself says in his work " Stainless Longanisa " that his real last name Ong (王) was not, but his stage name only on the names of his Homepage go back. Other assumptions are that the Filipino poet Paolo Manalo was behind the code name, but this too was denied.
