Bob Scott (racing driver)

Robert " Bob" Scott ( born October 4, 1928 in Watsonville, California, † July 5, 1954 in Darlington, South Carolina) was an American race car driver.

Career

Scott started 1951-1954 in 15 races for AAA National Series. His best results were there two fifth places he successively generated at the races in Sacramento and Phoenix in 1953. He drove a Nichels - Offenhauser both occasions.

For the 500 miles of Indianapolis, he had qualified in 1952 and 1953. He had to retire early both times. In 1953 he took over but after 71 laps the car of suffering from heat stroke Carl Scarborough who died later as a result. He drove the vehicle is still on the 12th Place. 1954, the day of the race was almost as hot as 1953. Scott had actually not qualify for the race, but he solved Linden and Elisian temporarily at the wheel off. ( Driver change at that time were allowed). Since the race from 1950 to 1960 was a championship round of the Formula 1 World Championship, Scott was also in three World Cup races at the start. Points he could not achieve at.

Bob Scott was killed in a AAA National race in 1954 in Darlington.
