Bob the Builder ( Switzerland Bob de Boumaa, English Bob the Builder) is a television series for children, in which the figures were originally animated with the help of stop-motion film technique. In the new sequences, this technique has been completely replaced by the CGI process. The series was developed by Hot Animation Studios in a three-year period based on an idea by Keith Chapman. Premiere of the first episode was in April 1999 on BBC One. The series is now broadcast in more than 100 countries.

Start in Germany was on 5 February 2001, and it sent 117 episodes of the first season and 41 episodes of the second season in the meantime. In addition to the television broadcasts there are the stories of Bob the Builder and his team also as radio plays, on DVD and VHS.

The length of a sequence is about 10 minutes each. Bob the Builder runs a construction yard in Bobhausen. Together with his partner Wendy and the talking vehicles and equipment he does all the work involved in the small community. Here are conflict resolution, teamwork, social behavior and different learning abilities in the foreground. The teaching of these skills is done through stories of repairing, building, excavators, painters, plumbers through to horticulture. Bob and his team are always there when you need them. The skeptical question " Can we do that?" ( Can we fix it? ) Is usually answered in chorus with a confident " Yo, we can! " ( Yes we can ). A realistic representation of artisanal activities will not occur.
