Bob Weinstein

Bob Weinstein ( born October 18, 1954 in Flushing, Queens, New York, (NY ), USA as Robert Weinstein ) is an American film producer.

Bob and his two years older brother Harvey Weinstein come from a Jewish family. Already during his studies he owned with his brother, a small theater, the Century Theatre, where they held, among other small film festivals. Meanwhile, the brothers are among the most successful Hollywood film producers.

In 1979, Harvey and Bob Weinstein founded the production company Miramax, the company is composed of the first names of their parents, Miriam and Max Weinstein. Was founded in 1993 by Bob additionally as an offshoot of the company Dimension Films Miramax, which covers the areas of film horror, action and thriller.

Among the most successful films Miramax and the Weinstein brothers are Chicago ( 2002), Shakespeare in Love ( 1998), Scary Movie (2000) and The English Patient (1996).

In September 2005, Harvey and Bob Weinstein left Miramax and founded their company with the resulting transfer fee of 140 million U.S. dollars, the Weinstein Company.
