Bob Wootton

Bob Wootton ( born March 4, 1942 in Paris, Arkansas) is an American guitarist and member of Johnny Cash's Tennessee Three backing band.

Wootton was a big fan of Johnny Cash and had all the records from him. He was able to accompany his songs in the style of guitarist Luther Perkins Cash on guitar, who died in a house fire in August 1968 killed. On September 17, 1968 Cash and his band in Lafayetteville, Arkansas should occur, however, were the start of concerts due to a delayed aircraft only Cash, his wife June Carter and his drummer WS Holland on stage. June Carter asked the audience if anyone could play the Cash songs on the guitar, and so jumped in Wootton. Wootton stunned cash and the audience by perfectly nachspielte the sound of Perkins and had even developed it further. A few days later cash Wootton called and offered him to become the new lead guitarist for his band Tennessee Three.

Career

The first major appearance Woottons with cash was the concert in San Quentin prison on 24 February 1969 recording of the album of the same name. Wootton not only played guitar, he also sang background for cash and jumped for him as a stuntman in various film and television productions. On May 4, 1974, he married Cash's sister and colleague Anita Carter, with whom he also appeared. The couple divorced later. Wootton accompanied Cash with the Tennessee Three to 1997, the year in which Johnny Cash had health reasons to give up the tours. Cash died in September 2003.

Presence

On July 19, 1983 Wootton married his present wife, Vicky; they have two children. The Tennessee Three with Wootton and Holland continue to occur, the vocal part has taken over Wootton. Is supported by the band Woottons wife and his daughter Scarlett. 2006 the band released the tribute album The Sound Must Go On.
